3 times a year your child’s teacher sends you a written report. This report contains important information about how well your child is doing developmentally and academically honing in on the progress they are making. The report is factual and ensures you have clarity over whether they are on track, below or above the age related expectations at any given point.
We send home the completed assessments we use so parents can see where their child is being successful and what they need to keep working on. In addition, the report highlights 3 targets designed for parents to work on at home.
These reports are released at the following times:
Autumn Term report: First week back in January
Spring Term Report: Week before Easter Break
Summer Term Report: Penultimate week of the academic year in July

Your teacher is available to talk to you as and when they or you feel necessary. Quick conversations can often happen at drop off or pick up. For longer conversations you can arrange a meeting at any time by contacting them directly (for example at drop off or pick up or via email).
We recognise parents are very busy people. Therefore we are committed to having conversations in whatever way works for both parties e.g. Face to face, online, on the telephone etc.
We do not hold termly parents meetings as it does not provide the right conversation at the right time. So please do reach out - our door is always open.
Every term we hold open afternoons hosted by the class teachers for all parents to drop in and see their child’s work in their classroom - these sessions are an open invitation for you and your child to sit together and celebrate their learning.
If you are ever keen to see your child’s work at other times, please do get in touch with your child’s class teacher who will gladly facilitate this at a time convenient to you both.
We want every child to have a happy, productive and safe day every day - it is important to remember that primary school is a place designed for learning and personal development and sometimes this means mistakes can happen.
There are always 2 sides to every story and we know that parents are their child’s ambassador. If something has happened or your child is upset about something, we ask you to come to us with an open mind, understanding that you have listened well to your child’s perspective and will be curious to know more; including any other relevant information.
Our job will be to work with you and your child to understand their perspective and solve the problem together. Essentially, we work as a team of adults to seek to understand any situation first before acting in all children’s best interests to find a resolution.
We use a therapeutic approach to conflict resolution. This means exploring all perspectives in a situation, listening to each other and finding pathways out of opposition and repairing the relationships. Responsibility is encouraged with all parties recognising their role and apologising as necessary.
See our 'Who to contact' page for guidance on the best person to speak to.
