 Ofsted Inspection - February 2017

I am pleased to be able to share with you the report from our most recent Ofsted Inspection which judged the school to be GOOD.  Leadership and management, which covers many areas of school life, from the governing body and senior leadership team to year and subject leaders has "maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection". The report recognises the strength of the staff team "who are proud to work at Vale School".

It is a report that accurately captures where we were as a school at that point in time, recognising the many improvements and changes that have taken place over the past few years.  I am particularly pleased that the inspectors have recognised all the hard work staff have put into developing our curriculum and in addressing the identified weaknesses in the last report.

Safeguarding is effective and the inspectors recognise that we place safeguarding as "a top priority" at the school.

The report identifies two next steps for us to focus on:

  • Continue the school's focus on writing, in order to improve outcomes for all groups of pupils
  • Build on the good start made to raise attendance, so that it remains in line with, or better than, national figures.

I will be working with the leadership team and governors to put plans in place to address these two areas over the coming months.

A copy of the Ofsted report is attached below.

Yours sincerely

Martin Garratt
